The Healing Foundation is a national fundraising charity established to champion the cause of people living with disfigurement and visible loss of function by funding research into pioneering surgical and psychological healing techniques. Through research they also raise awareness about the cause and provide information about the sources of support.

The Healing Foundation objects are for the relief of sickness and for the preservation and protection of public health by:

  • Carrying out and funding research into the improvements of treatments for the benefit of people who suffer from physical, psychological, social, or emotional disadvantage as a result of physical disfigurement or functional impairment present at birth or acquired through accident, disease, or illness and into the prevention of accidents which may cause such conditions.
  • Disseminating the useful results of such research and to help train health workers in appropriate treatments throughout the world.
  • Informing people about the availability of such treatments.

PS - Health and Poverty

Perhaps the biggest cause of ill health in the world is poverty. Help to Make Poverty History. For example, why not lend some of your money to disadvantaged communities to enable them to trade their way out of poverty through schemes such as Shared Interest.

See also MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY North East for details and links to campaigns against poverty.
