The Karten Network is a charity with the purpose of improving the quality of life and independence of adult people with congenital or acquired physical, cognitive, sensory, learning disabilities or mental health problems. The Karten Centres provide a supportive learning environment together with access to the latest in adaptive computer technology.

Aims:

The Karten Network works with partners to establish well resourced facilities which provide opportunities for young people and adults with disabilities to develop both the IT skills and the personal qualities needed to progress in life.

Objectives:

  • To provide a service for Ian Karten CTEC Centres, which supports the continuing acquisition and use of appropriate, up to date, IT resources to enable Centres to best serve their clientele.
  • To support the provision of thorough assessments, quality IT training and the development of staff to enable people with disabilities to realise their potential.
  • To support and nurture the sharing of good practice in the use of assistive technology in ICT related training so that all members have the opportunity to benefit from the available collective expertise.
