X-ray Machine
by Chris Dawson
(creative writers at www.morewriting.co.uk)
I've got to have an X-a-ray..
"X-ray" the nurse keeps saying,
they want to check a bone I hurt
while me and James were playing.
Zap me with their X-a-rays,
like someone from outer space,
that doctor is their leader..
he's got a Martian's face!
Ha ha, it doesn't hurt at all,
it's not my first X-a-ray,
if I hadn't fallen out the tree
I wouldn't be here today.
They think my arm is broken,
I must admit it's sore,
so I'll let the Doctor zap me..
like he's done three times before.
Once he had to do my chest
cos I had a nasty cough,
I had one in my mouth as well
when my tooth got broken off,
so there's nothing to it really,
and can't do you any harm,
so I'll let the Martian leader
photograph my arm.
You have to keep so still you do,
and be there all alone,
while the radiographer
takes X-a-rays of your bone.
He does it every day you know,
so stands behind a screen,
it has a great big window so
us aliens can be seen!
It only takes a few quick clicks
for the X-a-ray machine
to look right inside of you
at any damage there has been.
Next then comes the best bit,
once you've had a little wait,
you get to see the photographs..
you should see them they're just great!
