Glue Ear

The Doc tried to explain to me
What Glue Ear was all about
But it was quite embarrassing
Because he thought he had to shout
He told me that it caused deafness
As if I didn't know!
But he said that he could cure me
Even though it could be slow

So although it was annoying me
And frustrating me at school
At least I was really normal
And not some find of fool
I told my friends so now they know
And look at me when they speak
It's kind of them to do this while
My hearing's a little weak

Most children just grow out of it
But mine is really bad
I need an operation lik
My older brother had
It wasn't really very much
And he looked just the same
Except he could hear things properly
Then didn't get called names

So just in case you get one too,
I mean a Doc that shouts,
And Glue Ear worries you as well
Or you have any doubts
I thought I'd write this poem
To tell you not to worry
It's not so hard to sort you out
But it won't happen in a hurry

Be a patient patient if you can
I know it is frustrating
When you want to hear like other kids
And get fed up with waiting
But I'm completely better now
And you will be soon you see
Then you will hear like everyone
(But my Nan still shouts at me!)
