Alopecia Awareness is a non-profit making organisation that provides a range of help, information and support to anyone associated with hair loss.
Main organisation aims:
- To establish support groups throughout the United Kingdom that will generate the opportunity to provide education on alopecia, how to live with alopecia and promote positive wellbeing to the individual and show them ways of supporting themselves. Also to aid further research into the condition and different kinds of treatment.
- To promote awareness through various organised events, as well as promoting the help and information they can offer through the media (ie newspapers, magazines, radio and TV). To create links with the medical profession and help continue the research into new treatments.
- To provide help and support to any individual suffering from hair loss without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or political/religious beliefs and any other opinions. To provide the same support to all individuals experiencing hair loss, whether that hair loss be a result of alopecia, cancer treatments or any other condition that has the same symptoms. To provide friends and family of sufferers with helpful advice and information which will allow them to support their loved ones.
- To make the process of obtaining wigs and treatment more accessible by making everyone aware of where to go and who to see. To make a difference by providing support before and after diagnosis.
- To provide up-to-date and accurate information on the current state of research into the condition as well as any new treatments.
- To provide around-the-clock support for any sufferer in the UK and Ireland.
