There are over 70 contact volunteers for the Colostomy Association. These are people who are dedicated to helping colostomates (people with a colostomy) and their families. They are there to:
- Attend open/information days, coffee mornings and roadshows.
- Be at the end of the phone.
- Visit people at hospital.
- Visit people at home.
- Write articles for other professional magazines.
- Where needed, set up and manage support groups.
- Update their training.
- Raise money where possible for the Colostomy Association.
They also produce a quarterly magazine 'Tidings' which is circulated to their 18,000 members.
