Anaesthetic Awareness Network (UK & Ireland)

Web: www.anaestheticawareness.net

The Anaesthetic Awareness Network (UK & Ireland) exists in order to:

  • Offer support and encouragement to victims of awareness and their families.
  • Share stories and information where appropriate for the benefit of victims.
  • Act as a catalyst for change in anaesthetic practice and attitudes towards using new technologies available for consciousness monitoring.
  • Work with existing campaigns nationally and internationally for the benefit of patients who are still facing the possibility of trauma brought about by anaesthetic 'mistakes'.
  • Develop a strong network of patients and professionals who are willing to work together to promote the most effective solutions to the horrific problem of awareness.
  • Raise public and professional awareness of the availability of new technologies, so as to keep the necessity for change in anaesthetic practices high on the medical agenda.

PS - Health and Poverty

Perhaps the biggest cause of ill health in the world is poverty. Help to Make Poverty History. For example, why not lend some of your money to disadvantaged communities to enable them to trade their way out of poverty through schemes such as Shared Interest.

See also MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY North East for details and links to campaigns against poverty.
