Anaesthetic Awareness Network (UK & Ireland)
Web: www.anaestheticawareness.net
The Anaesthetic Awareness Network (UK & Ireland) exists in order to:
- Offer support and encouragement to victims of awareness and their families.
- Share stories and information where appropriate for the benefit of victims.
- Act as a catalyst for change in anaesthetic practice and attitudes towards using new technologies available for consciousness monitoring.
- Work with existing campaigns nationally and internationally for the benefit of patients who are still facing the possibility of trauma brought about by anaesthetic 'mistakes'.
- Develop a strong network of patients and professionals who are willing to work together to promote the most effective solutions to the horrific problem of awareness.
- Raise public and professional awareness of the availability of new technologies, so as to keep the necessity for change in anaesthetic practices high on the medical agenda.
