Depression Alliance Scotland is a national charity for people with depression in Scotland. They work to relieve and prevent this treatable condition by providing information, support and understanding to those affected by, and working with, depression. They also campaign at local and national levels to improve care for people affected by depression and work to reduce the stigma that still surrounds this common condition.

They offer:

  • A network of self-help groups where people with depression can share their experiences and coping strategies with others.
  • An information service by phone, post and email.
  • A wide range of leaflets and fact sheets.
  • A comprehensive web site.
  • A regular newsletter and e-bulletin.

PS - Health and Poverty

Perhaps the biggest cause of ill health in the world is poverty. Help to Make Poverty History. For example, why not lend some of your money to disadvantaged communities to enable them to trade their way out of poverty through schemes such as Shared Interest.

See also MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY North East for details and links to campaigns against poverty.
