The Food Additives and Ingredients Association is affiliated to the Chemical Industries Association and represents companies whose principal business is the manufacture and marketing of food additives and ingredients.
The organisation promotes better awareness of the role additives play in modern food. Key initiatives have included the booklet The Chemistry on Your Table (1985) and the educational project Understanding Food Additives (1998), produced in collaboration with the University of York's Chemical Industry Education Centre. The latter is now available as a web based teaching resource and can be accessed at www.understandingfoodadditives.org
It can offer an illustrated food additives talk to voluntary groups such as Women's Institutes and Rotary Clubs. This can be arranged by contacting the executive secretary at the above address.
A compact 16-page booklet entitled 'In the Mix' is available from the website as a PDF file to download. Alternatively, for the print version, send an SAE large enough to take A4 with two first class stamps to the above address.
