HIT delivers effective interventions on drugs, community safety, and other public health concerns. They produce publications, run mass media campaigns, deliver training, organise conferences, and provide consultancy.They also provide a reference library on drugs in Merseyside. They work in partnership with individuals, community groups and health, social care and criminal justice agencies at a local, national and international level.
HIT, formerly the Mersey Drug Training and Information Centre (MDTIC), was established in 1985 to reduce drug-related harm. Based in Liverpool, the organisation has gained an international reputation for developing, advocating and implementing a pragmatic and effective approach to the use of drugs.
HIT's recent work includes implementing the 'Models of Care', providing information about drugs and the law, sexual health, safer injecting and HIV protection, safer clubbing, young people and alcohol, reducing violence and glass-related injury (Crystal Clear), and overdose prevention.
