NHS 24 is a nurse-led telephone service for Scotland. The service provides access for the public to health information and advice 24 hours, 365 day a year.

NHS 24 is a modern, distinctively Scottish service, which aims to give people across Scotland equal access to health advice, information and help, when they need it and as far as possible in one phone call.

They aim to simplify access to local healthcare services and help the people of Scotland get the most appropriate care at the appropriate time.

People will have the opportunity to talk directly to experienced nurse advisors, working in one of the three regional contact centres.

PS - Health and Poverty

Perhaps the biggest cause of ill health in the world is poverty. Help to Make Poverty History. For example, why not lend some of your money to disadvantaged communities to enable them to trade their way out of poverty through schemes such as Shared Interest.

See also MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY North East for details and links to campaigns against poverty.
