AVM Support UK offers support to all who are interested or whose lives have been affected by the rare congenital defect 'arteriovenous malformation'. They also provide information and support on related conditions caused by or resulting from an arteriovenous malformation (also known as AVM).
The aims of AVM Support UK are:
- Relief of the sick, disabled, and carers to all affected by arteriovenous malformation.
- Promote public awareness and assist in research, treatment, causes and effects of arteriovenous malformation.
- Advancement of education in arteriovenous malformation and its effects.
- Support and guidance for all those whose lives have been affected by arteriovenous malformation.
- Provide and maintain a forum which will offer AVM sufferers an open gateway into the community.
The services AVM Support UK provide are:
- Regularly updated patient friendly information that has been reviewed by specialists in the field for accuracy.
- The chance to talk – using their free-of-charge online support meeting area in which registered users meet on a weekly basis. The meeting area is safe and secure. To ensure privacy it can only be entered by registered AVM Friends. All support meetings are hosted by volunteers who have been through or are going through a similar experience.
- The facility to post your own narrative within the ‘Our Experiences’ section on the website with the facility to update your narrative at any time, should you wish.
- The opportunity to contact other AVM sufferers through their support network.
- A wealth of useful contacts and links to websites that may be of benefit.
- Articles written specifically for AVM Support UK users by specialists in the field.
- A guestbook facility in which all users of the site can add postings.
- The AVM Friends area in which you can become part of an online support network. They have a private message board, meeting area and photo gallery.
