The Royal Association for Deaf people (RAD) is a registered charity which was founded in 1841.

RAD strives to meet the individual needs of deaf children and adults through the provision of services and the use of RAD centres for deaf people. The head office is based in Colchester.

RAD promotes the welfare and interests of deaf people, working with the deaf community, deaf clubs, deaf individuals and the parents of deaf children. Most of RAD's work is in London, Essex and the southeast of England. RAD is organised around the following services:

  • Deaf community development
  • Employment
  • Families and children
  • Youth information
  • Advice and advocacy
  • Learning disability
  • Mental health
  • Sign language interpreting
  • Training
