The Suzy Lamplugh Trust is a registered charity on personal safety. Its role is to minimise the damage caused to individuals and to society by aggression in all its forms - physical, verbal and psychological.

The Trust works alongside government, the police, the educational establishment, public bodies and the business sector to encourage safety wherever people may be at risk - in the home, at work, in public and in schools and colleges, on public transport and when travelling at home or abroad. As well as being dedicated to improving personal safety for all, whether female or male, young or old, the Trust undertakes a wide range of research, campaigning, training, education and practical support activities to put its aims into practice

The Trust's emphasis is on the reduction of crime and violence against individuals, with a particular focus on the workplace, transport, schools and the most vulnerable - children, the young, elderly, disabled and disadvantaged people. The Trust campaigns on safety issues, liasing with statutory and voluntary organisations and instigating research, for changes in attitude, policy, legislation and practice. It also provides general and specific advice to both individuals and organisations, and through its World Wise Website (supported by the Foreign Office), offers personal safety guidance for young travellers in over 200 countries.

The Trust also offers resources for all, including books, leaflets, posters, training manuals, videos and personal alarms.

PS - Health and Poverty

Perhaps the biggest cause of ill health in the world is poverty. Help to Make Poverty History. For example, why not lend some of your money to disadvantaged communities to enable them to trade their way out of poverty through schemes such as Shared Interest.

See also MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY North East for details and links to campaigns against poverty.
