William Quarrier began caring for Scotland's orphaned and destitute children in the early 1870s. Today, Quarriers provide a wide range of services, nationally and internationally. They focus on fighting the effects of poverty and helping to create a more just and accepting society.
Quarriers is a Scottish based charity providing practical support and care for children, adults and families at any stage of their lives. They challenge inequality of opportunity and choice, to bring about positive change in people's lives.
Giving people both support and independence is one of the things that makes Quarriers so special. They take a person-centred approach, improving many thousands of lives - children, young people, adults and families who experience disadvantage, have a disability or are excluded from society. Our guiding principle is that everyone has a right to opportunity. They work hard to ensure that all the 17,000 people whose lives we touch get the most from life, however much the odds are stacked against them. Their care - together with the help of supporters and friends - can really enable people to turn their lives around.
