Post-Adoption Centre (PAC) provides independent advice, counselling and support to anyone dealing with the challenges and opportunities of adoption, including adoptive and long-term foster families, birth mothers and other birth relatives and adopted adults and young people.

PAC was founded in 1986 to meet the needs of adults and children experiencing problems arising from adoption. Its origins were in a growing recognition that adoption isn't always a neat happy ending, but often brings specific problems of its own.

To meet changes in adoption practice, PAC has developed a range of services that reflect the complexities of contemporary adoption including support, counselling, advice, and therapeutic input to individuals, couples or families. PAC operates a national advice line which can serve as the first port of call for all its services.

PAC was the first provider of independent adoption support in the South East. In 2006/2007, PAC received 6292 contacts from people requiring its services.

PAC's director and counsellors are all professionally qualified and have a wide experience of adoption and post-adoption work. The multi-racial counselling workers are supported by external consultants, administrative and fundraising staff. PAC offers a programme of workshops, groups and seminars for all parties to adoption and training for professionals.

PAC is a registered charity and is registered with Ofsted under the care standards act 2000 as an adoption support agency.

PS - Health and Poverty

Perhaps the biggest cause of ill health in the world is poverty. Help to Make Poverty History. For example, why not lend some of your money to disadvantaged communities to enable them to trade their way out of poverty through schemes such as Shared Interest.
