The Disabled Sailors Association actively promotes and advertises sailing for disabled people as much as possible and in as many diverse ways as possible to attract new people into the sport. With its Ro-Ro Sailing Project, it is involved in the development of special sailing craft to be accessible for those in wheelchairs and with other disabilities so that disabled people can actually participate in sailing and not just be 'taken for a ride'.
The Association has specially adapted yachts, the Verity K and Scott Bader both based in Portsmouth, which are available to any disabled person or group with sufficient qualifications and acceptable to the charter manager.
