Aspergillus for Patients Website

Web: www.aspergillus.man.ac.uk/patients/New/welcomepages.php

Aspergillus for Patients is part of The Aspergillus Website (which is designed to provide information on pathogenic Aspergilli for clinicians and scientific researchers but may be of interest to patients too). Aspergillus for Patients is specifically intended for people (and their relatives and friends) who suffer from, or who think they may suffer from, the fungus called Aspergillus. The fungus may be causing an infection, an allergic response, or simply causing a nuisance in some other way. The site includes the following sections.

  • Information on Aspergillus, including What is Aspergillus? which is translated into 20+ languages.
  • Links to other sources of information.
  • Patient profiles.
  • Opportunities for feedback and discussion.

The Aspergillus for Patients website links to the Aspergillus website which is a comprehensive source of data on Aspergillus and aspergillosis including a literature database, detailed information on treatment, pictures of disease and the various species of Aspergillus, and a series of articles on many topics including protecting the patient in hospital. Both are funded by the Fungal Research Trust.

PS - Health and Poverty

Perhaps the biggest cause of ill health in the world is poverty. Help to Make Poverty History. For example, why not lend some of your money to disadvantaged communities to enable them to trade their way out of poverty through schemes such as Shared Interest.

See also MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY North East for details and links to campaigns against poverty.
