Crossroads promotes, offers, supports and delivers high quality services for carers and people with care needs. Crossroads offers practical support to carers by sending fully trained care attendants into the home. They will take on the carer's role, actually copying the routine of care given by the primary carer they temporarily replace. This in turn gives the carer a break, easing some of the pressure, thus allowing the family to stay together. Crossroads provides a quality, flexible home care service.

Trained, paid Crossroads Care Attendants visit homes from as little as one hour a week to 24 hours a day. Some carers have regular help, others choose to use the service occasionally. Care can be arranged through the local Health and Social Trust, via a Care Manager of through your GP. The purchase of care can also be negotiated directly with the local Crossroads Scheme. Contact the above office for details. Crossroads cares for the complete range of disabilities and illnesses including the following.

  • Alzheimer's Disease / Senile Dementia.
  • Arthritis.
  • Cerebral Palsy.
  • Coronary Disease.
  • Elderly / Frail.
  • Learning Disabilities.
  • Multiple Sclerosis.
  • Stroke (CVA) / Hemiplegia.

PS - Health and Poverty

Perhaps the biggest cause of ill health in the world is poverty. Help to Make Poverty History. For example, why not lend some of your money to disadvantaged communities to enable them to trade their way out of poverty through schemes such as Shared Interest.

See also MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY North East for details and links to campaigns against poverty.
