Equality and Human Rights Commission

Web: www.equalityhumanrights.com

The Equality and Human Rights Commission champions equality and human rights for all, working to eliminate discrimination, reduce inequality, protect human rights and to build good relations, ensuring that everyone has a fair chance to participate in society.

The Equality and Human Rights Commission helpline is there to give information and guidance on discrimination and human rights issues. All of their helpline staff have been specially trained to provide this service.

You can contact them by telephone, text phone, letter, email or fax. If you are contacting them by post about an issue for the first time, please do not send any documents with your letter. They will come back to you to let you know what documents they will need to see.

If you are a British Sign Language user or have a learning disability, and would prefer to contact them face-to-face, they can arrange a videophone call with you.

If you would like to contact them in a language other than English, please do so by using any of the ways above and tell them what language you would like to use. They will arrange to contact you in your language of choice as soon as possible.

The Helpline offices do not accept visitors and only provide a phone and correspondence service. They do not provide face to face advice.

PS - Health and Poverty

Perhaps the biggest cause of ill health in the world is poverty. Help to Make Poverty History. For example, why not lend some of your money to disadvantaged communities to enable them to trade their way out of poverty through schemes such as Shared Interest.

See also MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY North East for details and links to campaigns against poverty.
