Syndromes Without A Name (SWAN) is a registered charity set up to help raise awareness of children who suffer from undiagnosed disorders. The symptoms that these children display can be wide and varied. Because no two children's symptoms appear the same, it is difficult for medical professionals to confirm a diagnosis. SWAN's aims are as follows:

  • To help the families of sufferers by providing information and support.
  • To create a database of cases in an effort to find similarities.
  • To campaign for equal rights and recognition for these children and their families.
  • To develop an international database to help with research.

SWAN produces a newsletter, Sygnet, which includes articles from families, book reviews, and details of other sources of help and information.

PS - Health and Poverty

Perhaps the biggest cause of ill health in the world is poverty. Help to Make Poverty History. For example, why not lend some of your money to disadvantaged communities to enable them to trade their way out of poverty through schemes such as Shared Interest.

See also MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY North East for details and links to campaigns against poverty.
