Action for Kids' purpose is to provide relief for children and young people suffering from physical and mental disability by assisting them to lead full and independent lives.The charity's main activities are as follows.
- Providing direct services for severely disabled children and young people.These include the following:
- Provision of mobility aids ranging from 'trikes' (muscle development aids) to powered wheelchairs.
- The helpline (details above) provides a direct source of advice and information to the charity's beneficiaries, their friends and carers. (Local rates only are charged.)
- A work experience programme for 14-26 year olds, currently operating in north, east and central London but with plans to extend.
- Providing help and support for severely disabled children, young people, their friends, relatives and carers.
- Fundraising.
