Pets as Therapy is a small UK wide national charity that has over 3600 volunteers, who together with their temperament assessed dog and cats, visit a variety of recipients in establishments such as hospitals, nursing/residential home, special needs schools, day centres etc. Their members, who give their time freely, bring with them the unconditional love and companionship that only a very special volunteer and pet can bring.

There is a charge in connection with becoming a full member of Pets as Therapy which covers insurance for the volunteer. Please contact the above for further details.

PS - Health and Poverty

Perhaps the biggest cause of ill health in the world is poverty. Help to Make Poverty History. For example, why not lend some of your money to disadvantaged communities to enable them to trade their way out of poverty through schemes such as Shared Interest.

See also MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY North East for details and links to campaigns against poverty.
