The Osteopathic Children's Centre was established in 1991 with the aim of making paediatric osteopathy available to all children and young people. Further aims are the provision of information to the public and health professionals on paediatric osteopathy and further education for qualified osteopaths. Features of the Centre's services, which are based in London with a clinic in Manchester planned, are as follows.
- All children and young people from birth to 18 years and pregnant and post-partum women are treated by the Centre's paediatric osteopaths.
- The Centre is aimed, in particular, at those families who would not otherwise be able to afford osteopathic treatment. A donation towards the cost of treatment is requested but no child is turned away because they are unable to pay.
- The OCC's booklet Paediatric Osteopathy is available for a donation of £1.00. It includes a section entitled How paediatric osteopathy works
