The Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) is the professional body for speech and language therapists in the UK. It is responsible for setting, promoting and maintaining high standards in the education, clinical practice and ethical conduct of speech and language therapists.

Most clients can contact a speech therapist directly with the speech and language therapy service, or through the GP, health visitor, local health centre, clinic or hospital. The College maintains a register of practising members and provides information services, professional and clinical guidelines, supports continuing professional development for SLTs and lobbies on behalf of SLTs and those with speech, language, communication and swallowing disorders.

PS - Health and Poverty

Perhaps the biggest cause of ill health in the world is poverty. Help to Make Poverty History. For example, why not lend some of your money to disadvantaged communities to enable them to trade their way out of poverty through schemes such as Shared Interest.

See also MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY North East for details and links to campaigns against poverty.
