The British Association for Music Therapy (BAMT) replaces the Association of Professional Music Therapists (APMT) and the British Society for Music Therapy (BSMT).

The objects of the organisation are to:

  • Promote for the public benefit the art and science of music therapy
  • Promote the use and development of music therapy for children and adults with a wide range of needs
  • Advance education in music therapy
  • Promote understanding of music therapy for the general public

Membership of BAMT is open to anyone interested in music therapy. The international membership is currently around 850 people representing many different professions including music therapists, musicians, medical and para-medical personnel, teachers, parents and students.
