Skin Care Campaign

Web: www.skincarecampaign.org

The Skin Care Campaign is an alliance of patient groups, companies and other organisations with a common interest in skin health. It is administered by the National Eczema Society.

The Skin Care Campaign enjoys the professional support of the British Association of Dermatologists, the British Dermatological Nursing Group and the Primary Care Dermatology Society, the Health Education Authority and the Health and Safety Executive.

The Skin Care Campaign objectives are to:

  • Work for the improvement of health care for people with skin disease.
  • Educate and inform the public and others about skin diseases and their treatment.
  • Suppors other organisations in order to pursue these objectives.

Activities include the following:

  • Campaigning to Parliament, to the Department of Health, to NHS Authorities and Trusts, and to other bodies and agencies which influence health care provision.
  • Educating and informing health care professionals and the public through a media campaign about skin diseases and their prevention and treatment.
  • Enabling the provision of information and advice about skin diseases and their prevention and treatment directly to the public through a programme of skin information days.

The Skin Care Campaign does not have the administrative capacity to respond to public enquiries. However, their website provides a lot of information and includes a directory giving information on many common and rare skin disorders and patient support groups.

PS - Health and Poverty

Perhaps the biggest cause of ill health in the world is poverty. Help to Make Poverty History. For example, why not lend some of your money to disadvantaged communities to enable them to trade their way out of poverty through schemes such as Shared Interest.

See also MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY North East for details and links to campaigns against poverty.
