Aviation Health is an independent medical research non-profit company which was created in 1996. It promotes the health and well-being of passengers world-wide. Its main objectives are research and education into the prevention of air related conditions. Since its establishment they have achieved the following:

  • Increased the awareness of air related problems to the medical profession, parliament and the public.
  • Pressed for the revision of the Warsaw Convention to include passenger health.
  • Focused the airlines to their responsibility for the health of their passengers.
  • Compiled a factual database relating to air related problems.
  • Promoted methods of prevention.
  • Developed a programme for educating the public on preventable airline conditions.
  • Made aviation health a high profile issue.
  • Supported medical research into air related deep vein thrombosis.
  • Stimulated the interest of the international community, including the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
  • Increased the importance of leg room/seat pitch.
  • Selected research studies on DVT, cabin air quality, and inflight medical incidents.
