The Crisis Recovery Unit is a national, specialist service for people of 17 years and above who persistently harm themselves. The Service offers both inpatient and outpatient treatment. The outpatient unit is located at the Maudsley Hospital, South London and the inpatient unit is based at the Bethlem Royal Hospital, Beckenham, Kent.
The service is provided by a multidisciplinary team led by a Consultant Psychiatrist. Members of the team include psychiatrists, specialist nurses, social worker and occupational therapist. Contact the Serivce Administrator for full details of the out- and inpatient services and referral procedures.
The Service aims to help individuals to seek alternatives to self harming, to gain a greater understanding of the meaning that self harm has for them and to tolerate distressing feelings.
