The Billings Ovulation Method (BOM) teaches a woman to interpret her natural signs of fertility through all her changing life stages from puberty to the menopause, including regular and irregular cycles, breastfeeding and the climacteric (the pre-menopause years). There are no side effects, as no hormones, chemicals or devices are used. It is easy to learn and is successful when learned and used by a couple to avoid pregnancy.

The Method is also very effective in helping couples to achieve pregnancy naturally. Of those couples trying to achieve, fewer than a third will succeed within the first month, 50% by six months and 80 - 90% by 18 months. It is essential that the couple have correct information about the requirements for conception. The Billings Ovulation Method can give this knowledge and may assist in identifying an infertility problem which maybe amenable to correction. When this is treated by appropriate specialist management the couple can then use the knowledge of fertility recognition to provide the best chance for conception.

For details of accredited teachers, half hour on site talks for GPs, group talks for nurses, group talks for women or couples, further information and publications on the Method, please contact the BOM Trust or check the website as detailed above.

PS - Health and Poverty

Perhaps the biggest cause of ill health in the world is poverty. Help to Make Poverty History. For example, why not lend some of your money to disadvantaged communities to enable them to trade their way out of poverty through schemes such as Shared Interest.

See also MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY North East for details and links to campaigns against poverty.
