Anorexia & Bulimia Care (ABC) is a registered charity which believes that there is an answer to anorexia, bulimia and compulsive eating. It offers, from a Christian perspective, encouragement and support for the whole family to help make full recovery possible. It is the policy of ABC to treat all young people and adults as individuals worthy of consideration and care irrespective of gender, race, ethnic origin, faith, marital status, sexuality or disability. The charity offers the following services to sufferers in the UK (there are also some users overseas):

  • ACHE the Parent helpline providing advice and support (and written resources) for parents of school age children with eating disorders.
  • A starter pack to enable sufferers to assess their situation and encourage early steps to recovery.
  • Lifeline, a quarterly magazine to help them focus their thinking and move forward.
  • Resources, such as books, CDs and help-sheets.
  • A 'befriender' for those without supportive help to recover.
  • Regional workshops are held occasionally. Those who care for sufferers are also welcome.
  • Local support groups where possible.
  • Prayer support.

ABC also has services and resources for those willing to help. Please contact the charity for details of these or for further information on the above.

PS - Health and Poverty

Perhaps the biggest cause of ill health in the world is poverty. Help to Make Poverty History. For example, why not lend some of your money to disadvantaged communities to enable them to trade their way out of poverty through schemes such as Shared Interest.

See also MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY North East for details and links to campaigns against poverty.
