Youthline is a telephone helpline and part of Contact Youth, a charity founded in 1977. Contact Youth provides quality counselling to young people in Northern Ireland, believing that all young people have the right to free and confidential counselling. The service has the following features.
- Youthline is available to young people aged 11 - 25.
- Calls to Youthline are free from all over Northern Ireland.
- Youthline volunteers will refer the caller to other agencies if the caller feels they need a different type of help or support.
- Youthline volunteers have a minimum of a Diploma in Counselling and receive training in young peoples issues and telephone helping.
- Youthline callers can access one-to-one counselling with a Contact Youth counsellor. Counselling sessions are held in Belfast, or a variety of sites throughout NI.
- Counselling with Contact Youth is free.
- Contact Youth also run a specialised counselling/mentoring service for young people aged 8 - 18 from the Belfast, Limavady, Strabare and Northern Board areas.
- Art therapy is also available.
