The Essex Autistic Society exists to 'promote the welfare, education and care' of people with autism across the UK, and in so doing supports and encourages their families, friends and carers.

They provide the following services:

  • School Services: education for 3 - 19 year olds at Doucecroft School in Colchester and further education for 16 - 19 year olds at a department in Kelvedon
  • Adult Services: five residential homes around Colchester and an Adult Day Centre
  • Community Support: upon request from the Social Services, the Essex Autistic Society can provide autism-specific full-time support to individuals living in the community.
  • Support Services: a Family Support Service which offers advice and information to families affected by autism, and Clinical Psychology and Speech & Language services to their service users.

Their website includes information about autism; the services they provide for children and adults with Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and the many ways in which people can help the Society.
