BILD is an independent registered charity committed to improving the quality of life of all people with a learning disability. BILD's work involves people of all ages and in all aspects of their lives. BILD is committed to making services and service planners aware of, and able to deal with, the issues people with learning disabilities face in their lives. The following services are offered to members:

  • Information by letter and e-mail on all aspects of learning disability and details of other relevant organisations.
  • Library (use arranged by appointment) including books, training resources, videos, and journals on learning disability. The library is open to non-members but only members may borrow materials.
  • Literature searches at a small cost.
  • Photocopying articles at a small cost.

BILD provides conferences, training and accreditation for front line staff, service managers, professionals, family carers, and people with a learning disability. BILD's books, training packs and journals are designed to improve practice among professionals working with people with a learning disability achieve a better quality of life.
