NCVO is the umbrella body for the voluntary sector in England. It has a growing membership of over 1000 voluntary organizations. NCVO is an effective lobbying organization and represents the views of its members and the wider voluntary sector to government, the Charity Commission, the EU and other bodies.

NCVO also researches and analyses the voluntary sector and provides advice and information through the Helpdesk, NCVO News, events and information networks. It publishes a variety of publications.

NCVO aims:

  • To give a shared voice to voluntary organizations.
  • To cultivate an environment that fosters their development.
  • To help voluntary organizations to achieve the highest standards of practice and effectiveness.
  • To provide leadership to the voluntary sector in tackling new issues and unmet needs.

Perhaps the biggest cause of ill health in the world is poverty. Help to Make Poverty History. For example, why not lend some of your money to disadvantaged communities to enable them to trade their way out of poverty through schemes such as Shared Interest.
