The Mental Health Foundation was founded in 1949 and is a registered charity working for the needs of people with mental health problems and those with learning disabilities. The Foundation develops and supports scientific research, social research and community projects. It provides information on mental health issues for the general public and healthcare professionals and continually strives to reduce the stigma attached to both mental illness and learning disabilities and to increase public awareness and understanding. The Foundation publishes a range of well-produced booklets.
