Toxic Shock Syndrome is a type of blood poisoning. It is rare but potentially serious and can develop quickly in anyone - men, women and children.
The Toxic Shock Syndrome Information Service (TSSIS) provides information about toxic shock syndrome (TSS) for members of the public, the media and medical professionals. Services provided by the TSSIS include the following.
- 24 hour pre-recorded telephone advice line.
- TSSIS is able to respond to individual enquiries from within the UK.
- Publications that include: TSS: Know the Facts, TSS - A Health Professionals Guide, Uncommon Febrile Illness: One in a Million, and two educational videos for health professionals.
