The National Society for Research into Allergy (NSRA) is a voluntary, charitable organisation founded in 1980 to provide reliable information and guidance for those who believe they may be suffering from an allergy or intolerance. It operates a membership system with an initial fee and annual renewal fee. The NSRA aims are as follows.

  • To see allergy and intolerance accepted and for there to be adequate, effective and safe treatment within the NHS.
  • To assist and impart information to GPs, hospital doctors, and members of other medically trained caring and teaching professions.
  • To supply correct information to journalists.
  • To provide funding for academic bodies to research safe and effective methods of testing for and treating allergy/intolerance.

The NSRA offers constructive advice, by telephone and by letter, on the following: food and chemical induced allergy and intolerance, mineral deficiency, Candida, parasitic infection, hyperactivity, hyperventilation syndrome, agricultural chemicals and airborne allergens. The NSRA programme includes the following to members:

  • A free dietary elimination and reintroduction programme.
  • A recipe book.
  • Suggested doctors in the individual's local area who may help.
  • Consultations at the NSRA.
  • The Association's personnel are fully trained non medically qualified therapists who have many years experience.

NSRA publications include: Enzyme Potentiated Desensitisation, Hayfever-Seasonal Rhinitis, Anaphylaxis, Hyperactivity, Allergy & Intolerance in Babies and Small Children, Hyperventilation, PMS - Psychological, Irritable-bowel, Migraine Syndrome, Reaction (four editions yearly), Is it Something you Ate.
