The Christian Lewis Trust aims:

  • To improve the quality of life for children affected by cancer.
  • To provide emotional and practical support that complements and adds value to the services provided by the statutory authorities.

Providing a confidential 'listening ear' for anyone who is or ever has been affected by a child with cancer - the family centred care includes:

  • Dream holidays: specially co-ordinated 'stress-free' programmes that ensure that families who need a break in the UK, or wish to visit Disneyland Paris and Disney World Florida, do not have to worry about anything other than enjoying themselves.
  • Play therapy - using play and creative arts to help children express their feelings and experiences helping children affected by cancer to try and come to terms with their situation.
  • Be-friending - either face to face or by telephone or correspondence is available for anyone whose life has been affected by a child with cancer.
  • Bereavement - the charity offers 'one to one' bereavement and pre-bereavement support for both children and adults. It also runs support groups providing an opportunity for meeting others who have similar experiences.

PS - Health and Poverty

Perhaps the biggest cause of ill health in the world is poverty. Help to Make Poverty History. For example, why not lend some of your money to disadvantaged communities to enable them to trade their way out of poverty through schemes such as Shared Interest.

See also MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY North East for details and links to campaigns against poverty.
