The Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust (BIRT) offers detailed assessments of the impact of brain injury on the individual, including assessing the possibility of social integration.
Specialist, expert assessments are the starting point for their work and can last up to 8 weeks. Assessments take place either in the community or at one of their eight specialist centres across the UK.
Their programme is designed for people, who following careful assessment, they consider have the potential for increased independence and social re-integration. All their programmes follow a neurobehavioural model of rehabilitation.
Referrals are welcome from Health Authority, Social Services, PCTs, Medico Legal and family members.
