Through the Roof is a Christian disability organisation working to change attitudes in churches and wider society towards disabled people and disability. The vision is to make Christ's message of acceptance of everyone available to all people affected by disability - both disabled people and their families.

Through the Roof incorporates the work of the Disabled Christians Fellowship which was established in 1959 to provide a network of Christian fellowship groups, to offer accessible holidays, and a thriving tape ministry. Through the Roof is a registered charity and a member of the Evangelical Alliance.

Through the Roof programmes include:

  • Training workshops - to provide instruction and education in disability awareness and ministry.
  • Wheels for the world - provides wheelchairs to hundreds of people in developing countries.
  • Advice leaflets and publications - to give churches, organisations, and individuals clear guidance to equip them to be fully inclusive of disabled people.
  • The Vital Link - quarterly magazine.
  • Family holidays - arranged for autistic children and their families.
  • Website.
  • Disabled Christians Fellowship local groups - which meet in local halls and homes all over the country.
  • Bible study resources.
  • Integr8 - a range of programmes working with young disabled Christians.

PS - Health and Poverty

Perhaps the biggest cause of ill health in the world is poverty. Help to Make Poverty History. For example, why not lend some of your money to disadvantaged communities to enable them to trade their way out of poverty through schemes such as Shared Interest.

See also MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY North East for details and links to campaigns against poverty.
