Disability Wales is a national association of disability groups working to promote the rights, recognition and support of all disabled people in Wales. It is an independent charity. Disability Wales believes that all disabled people in Wales, irrespective of the type or cause of impairment and personal circumstances, have the right to participate fully and equally in economic, social and political activities, to enjoy equal living conditions, choices and opportunities, and to have access to relevant health, social and personal support services. Disability Wales' activities include the following:

  • Providing independent advice and information and support for disabled people both directly as Disability Wales services and indirectly by supporting local agencies.
  • Providing training and advice to employers, service providers and policy makers in Wales.
  • Working with central and local government and, increasingly, the private and professional sectors to develop effective policy, practice and legislation.

A general information leaflet is available in braille, large print, audio tape or disc.

PS - Health and Poverty

Perhaps the biggest cause of ill health in the world is poverty. Help to Make Poverty History. For example, why not lend some of your money to disadvantaged communities to enable them to trade their way out of poverty through schemes such as Shared Interest.

See also MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY North East for details and links to campaigns against poverty.
