The British Ski Club for the Disabled provides skiing on artificial ski slopes throughout the UK (there are currently over 20 locations) and organises group skiing holidays on snow. Skiing gives an opportunity to develop the self-confidence that comes with the shared experience of participating in a sport. The BSCD helps people with a range of disabilities including those who are blind, paraplegic, have MS, or special learning needs.

BSCD also trains guides to assist skiers with different disabilities, provides and develops specialist skiing aids and equipment, and offers ski guiding. A list of BSCD centres around the country is available from the address above.

PS - Health and Poverty

Perhaps the biggest cause of ill health in the world is poverty. Help to Make Poverty History. For example, why not lend some of your money to disadvantaged communities to enable them to trade their way out of poverty through schemes such as Shared Interest.

See also MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY North East for details and links to campaigns against poverty.
