SAMM (Support After Murder and Manslaughter) is an independent voluntary organisation. It is run by an elected Committee. SAMM's aims are as follows:

  • To offer understanding and support to families and friends, who have been bereaved as a result of murder and manslaughter, through the mutual support of others who have suffered a similar tragedy.
  • To raise public awareness about the effects of murder and manslaughter on families and friends.
  • To take up the issues of concern arising out of the effects of murder and manslaughter.
  • To promote and support research into the effects of murder and manslaughter on society.

SAMM has over 3,000 members who have been bereaved through murder or manslaughter. The organisation produces an Information Sheet on SAMM's aims and activities as well as fact sheets on Coping with Anxiety and Fear, Coping with Haunting Memories and Nightmares, and Coping with Depression.
