Action against Medical Accidents ('AvMA') is a national charity which provides independent advice, information and support to people and their loved ones who feel they have been the victim of a medical accident. This includes medical and legal advice on the available options for a complaint. If an individual is seeking compensation, their caseworker can advise on their potential claim and, where appropriate, arrange a referral to a specialist medical negligence solicitor. The helpline operates at the times above and messages and requests for information packs can be left at other times.

An integral part of their work is the support network which co-ordinates a range of support services for victims including support meetings, newsletters, local contacts, etc. In addition to helping individuals, Action against Medical Accidents is actively campaigning on behalf of medical accident victims. There is also a range of services for lawyers specializing in this field including the recommendation of appropriate medical experts.

PS - Health and Poverty

Perhaps the biggest cause of ill health in the world is poverty. Help to Make Poverty History. For example, why not lend some of your money to disadvantaged communities to enable them to trade their way out of poverty through schemes such as Shared Interest.

See also MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY North East for details and links to campaigns against poverty.
