Monitoring and developing standards of training are important aspects of the Society's work. All its members have completed a three year, full time training course and have reached a standard approved by the Society. STAT runs a regular programme of post-graduate education and training.

The Society publishes a newsletter three times a year and The Alexander Journal. It holds an annual National Conference. Members of the public who would like to keep in touch are welcomed as friend members.

PS - Health and Poverty

Perhaps the biggest cause of ill health in the world is poverty. Help to Make Poverty History. For example, why not lend some of your money to disadvantaged communities to enable them to trade their way out of poverty through schemes such as Shared Interest.

See also MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY North East for details and links to campaigns against poverty.
