Mobilise Organisation is a self-help organisation run for disabled people by disabled people, and concerns itself with the needs of disabled people primarily by encouraging greater independence through enhanced mobility. Membership is available for a modest subscription. Mobility touches every aspect of disabled people's lives, whether they are drivers or passengers, using cars, wheelchairs, public transport or simply walking! Mobilise seeks to fulfil its overall purpose through defined areas as follows:

  • Information - assisting in finding solutions to members' problems, publishing leaflets.
  • Campaigns - with government and local bodies, to advance the cause of disabled people.
  • Monthly magazine, Mobilise, free to all members.
  • Negotiating price concessions on ferries - special offers are publicized from time to time in Mobilise magazine.

PS - Health and Poverty

Perhaps the biggest cause of ill health in the world is poverty. Help to Make Poverty History. For example, why not lend some of your money to disadvantaged communities to enable them to trade their way out of poverty through schemes such as Shared Interest.

See also MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY North East for details and links to campaigns against poverty.
