Victim Support is the national charity for victims of crime, helping over a million and a half people a year. Trained staff and volunteers based in many local Victim Support schemes/branches, and based in the crown courts and in a growing number of magistrates' courts, provide emotional support, practical help and information to victims and witnesses of crime and their families and friends. This service is confidential and free. Victim Support can supply a list of telephone numbers for local Schemes and Witness Services.
Victim Support runs the Victim Supportline, a lo-call number providing emotional support and practical information for anyone who has suffered the effects of crime, regardless of whether the crime has been reported. The Supportline's trained staff and volunteers can also put people in touch with local Victim Support services and other organisations.
