The PHAB aim is to promote and encourage people with and without physical disabilities to come together on equal terms, to achieve complete integration within the wider community.
- Was formed in 1957. By 1970 there were 23 clubs. Now there are over 250.
- Is the only charity promoting integration between physically disabled and able bodied people.
- Finances a programme aimed at changing attitudes at the earliest possible age.
- Promotes the sharing on equal terms of activities between the able-bodied and the disabled.
- Breaks down divisive barriers, embarrassment and prejudice.
- Offers and arranges holidays, including opportunities to disabled and able bodied to abseil, horseride, go pot holing, climb mountains, and follow many other pursuits.
- Constantly campaigns to improve the quality of life by seeking better disabled access to public transport, shops, cinemas, theatres, concert halls, galleries, and studios.
