STEPS provide support, information, and a voice for families and people with lower limb conditions, who cannot take walking for granted. In order to achieve this, they are committed to furthering research, innovation, services and best practice through a partnership approach.

Their services include:

  • National telephone helpline.
  • Awareness campaigns.
  • Support service - their web site offers an online chat forum where people can 'meet' other with similar problems/issues and talk, sharing ideas and problems and where they can get help in finding solutions.
  • Information and guidance service - they have a library of information relation to conditions affecting lower limbs. This includes information on:
    • Developmental dysplasia of the hip (previously called congenital dislocated hip or CDH).
    • Talipes (club foot).
    • Lower limb deficiencies.
